Best Goal of 2012 (soccer)

The year of 2012 was a great one for soccer, having the UEFA champions League break records for most internationally viewed competition, as well as one of the most talked about events on social media. However this amazing goal by Sweden's Zlatan Ibrahimovic was a sure fire winner for best goal of the year. The goalie comes off of his line to try and beat him with a header, but Zlatan strikes back with a ferociously accurate bike. As a keeper, I believe that he should have stayed on his line and waited for the defense to get the ball out of the backfield, as most keepers would do, however this day, Joe Hart, England's goalkeeper decides to be adventurous, and it ends up costing him. Even though the goalkeeper was way out of position, bicycle kicks are one of the hardest maneuvers to pull of, making this goal by far the best goal in soccer for the year of 2012.

  1. Very interesting topic u chose to talk about. Ibrahimovic is one of my favorite soccer players, he made that kick seems easy, when its really hard to do, and yea it was all the goal keeper's fault, if he stayed in his position he would have been able to block it.

  2. The way Ibrahimovic pulled off the kick was...nothing short of miraculous, even if I'm not much of a fan of Sweden's national team. There were lots of little things that helped aid that goal to be made, but the biggest error had to be the fact to be Hart. Not only was he far from from the line, but the fact that he opted head the ball in the worst possible location did a lot of damage to begin with, it was like he was basically handing the ball directly over to Ibrahimovic. It was probably a good
little jab to remind him to not show off and to stick closer to the lines in the future since the ball wouldn't have been sent straight to someone to make a goal with.

  3. Iain--Your blog is coming along pretty well. Your writing flows fairly well, but you need more of it. You are a bit brief. Keep developing and expanding. You have some interesting content. Make sure to always worry about why/how your audience will know that your content is important to them. You have pretty good visual appeal. Keep it up.
